Known as the Great Garrison Flag or Star-Spangled Banner, a flag bearing the 15-star design flew over Fort McHenry on September 12, 1814 with 5,000 British soldiers and a fleet of 19 ships attacked Baltimore. The bombardment turned to the fort on the morning of September 13, and continuous shelling occurred for 25 hours under heavy rain. On the morning of September 14, the battered flag still flew above the ramparts and signaled that Fort McHenry had withstood the bombardment and remained in the American hands. Francis Scott Key, and American lawyer and amateur poet, famously captured this triumphant revelation in poetry while held by the British on a truce ship in the Patapsco River, When he saw the garrison flag still flying at dawn, he composed a poem originally titled "Defiance of Ft. McHenry" (or Defense of Ft. McHenry). The poem would be put to music of a common tune, re-titled "The Star-Spangled Banner" and a portion later adopted as the United States Anthem.

Marking the 200th Anniversary of the Star-Spangled Banner in 2014, this historic, decorative set features a 3'x5' Valley Forge USA-made 15-star flag that was one of 1,100 raised over Fort McHenry during Veteran's Day week 2012 to celebrate the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the birthplace of the national anthem. The flag is exhibited in a 25.5"H x 31.5"W executive leather frame matched by a 25.5"H x 15.5"W framed presentation of a Fort McHenry certificate triple matted in white with navy and red accents. The certificate display includes a historical note and the lyrics to "The Star-Spangled Banner" along with a Fort McHenry pin and a patch commemorating the 200th Anniversary of Key's writing of "The Star-Spangled Banner". All printing and framing done in the USA by Mill Pond Press.
